Why NAV4 Adventure? We believe that self-reliance, including the ability to navigate and look after yourself in the outdoors is the only way to experience a truly adventurous experience.  Becoming self-reliant, with the ability to navigate and look after yourself and your friends in the great outdoors, gives you a great sense of satisfaction and reward. It is opens up endless possibilities for walking, running and biking trips in to the wild outdoors…. and makes you safe!

Our courses are practical and varied, using classroom and discussion when appropriate but always focusing on the hills.  We always work on a small client / tutor ratio (usually 4:1 max, and often less).

Our approach is friendly, informal and always targeted to your needs be that for a great day walking the fells or a tailored training programme.

NAV4 Adventure developed its first mountain navigation skills course over fifteen years ago and have delivered training, coaching and mountain leadership to a wide variety of clients ever since.Joe was originally asked to provide training by the organisers of the ‘KIMM’, in order to improve the success rate of KIMM finishers at the original Karrimor Internal Mountain Marathon, and many subsequent courses developed from there.

Joe has 30 years experience of the outdoor industry, both as a professional leader, instructor and trainer, and in outdoor retail, equipment design and development.

If you have not heard of NAV4 Adventure, ask around and you will find that we have a strong and highly respected reputation in the fields of fell running, adventure racing, coaching and mountaincraft.  We are based in The Lake District, but operate across the UK and occasionally further afield.   We have a successful NAV4 Adventure Racing Team, with a strong reputation for completing tough races in good style, but we are certainly not just about winning or racing.  We believe in fun and adventure.
